Mental Health Therapist

Job Title: Mental Health Therapist

Location: Hybrid

Job Type: Part-Time

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated part-time licensed Mental Health Therapist with a passion for working with children and their families. The ideal candidate will have experience in engaging with both kids and parents, and a strong interest in growing within this specialization. We value someone who is committed to understanding and supporting children and adolescents, with a keen awareness of their unique needs and interactions that foster a sense of safety and understanding.

The successful applicant will possess a solid grasp of child development and be adept at making age-appropriate observations and recommendations. Acknowledging that working with children is a specialized field, we require cultural competence and a deep appreciation for the nuances involved in this role. This position offers competitive compensation, clinical supervision towards licensure at no cost, and free learning opportunities (CEUs). While we provide support, it is essential for you to independently research and apply relevant interventions to address the needs of your clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Self-scheduling and communication with parents or caregivers.
  • Availability for evening appointments and a minimum of two in-person office days per week.
  • Timely completion of notes and documentation within 24 hours.
  • Collaboration with the Office Systems Coordinator and team members through supervision and other learning opportunities.
  • Engagement in professional development and research on effective, evidence-based interventions relevant to current topics.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and representation at all times during work hours.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and report punctually.
  • Demonstrate sound professional judgment and practice aligned with legal and ethical standards, practice guidelines, and agency policies.
  • Conduct individual and need-based group counseling sessions.
  • Provide psychological assessments, intakes, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Engage in weekly supervision sessions with a clinically licensed mental health professional.
  • Document and address concerns and challenges regarding clinical field experience during supervision.
  • Possess a car or reliable transportation to and from worksites.
  • Be subjected to a federal fingerprinted background check with DCFS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Psychology.
  • This is a Chicago-based position, with in-office attendance required two days a week.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or equivalent in the state of Illinois.
  • Minimum of (1) year of clinical experience providing therapy or counseling to individuals, couples, or groups.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, or similar approaches.
  • Ability to maintain a caseload of part-time clients and provide ongoing therapy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural competence and ability to provide therapy services to diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate clinical documentation and client records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Comfortable with using telehealth platforms and conducting remote therapy sessions as needed.
  • Availability to work evening and/or weekend hours to accommodate client schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in a counseling or clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care or experience working with trauma survivors.
  • Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or other therapeutic modalities.
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
  • Supportive work environment that values creativity and collaboration.

If you are enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the lives of children and adolescents, and thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment, we would love to hear from you!
